2022

Based on the invention created by Dinshah Ghadiali, this work investigates the physical healing properties of colour when exposed to the body. His invention, the Spectro-Chrome Metry machine used 1000 watt bulbs that were coloured to ‘attuned’ wave slides. He certified that the device unlocked all medical secrets using light to cure every disease and affliction. Chromotherapy is one of the most holistic and simple methods to cure illness. This modality of healing does not require you to consume anything or apply any ointments. You may simply lay or sit under the desired colour. In the work, Spectro-Chrome a projection of colours corresponding to each chakra is emitted. When experiencing the work, whichever colour that appears for you is the physical aspect of the body that is to be healed in that moment.

 Colour Breathing Technique.

1.     Choose the colour you wish to project on yourself and place the slides in a projector

2.     Lay down or sit in the colour and breathe deeply.

3.     Feel the colour filling your body or direct the colour you wish it to go

The Roses are Fake but Plastic is Real / 2022

My work ‘the roses are fake but plastic is real’ is made in response to the recent Roe Vs Wade repeal decision. In this work, the female subject stands defiant and ambivalent to the audience. As the figure fluctuates through computer glitching, so do her emotions. She asserts her presence and demands the attention of the male gaze. It is through the process of undermining the female and human experience, that rights become eroded. She demands her presence to be acknowledged and is defiant against false patriarchal promises.

‘We Begin Here Series’ / 2017 - These series of works began in Sydney in 2017. The works are my own protest to the right-wing political landscape that has become dominant in my home city. New laws and development in the city have meant the loss and destruction of council estates, cultural and artistic hubs. This has had a great impact on the social and cultural landscape of the city, with many artists choosing to relocate to other cities and countries. This piece, inspired by Picasso’s ‘painting-on-glass’ technique, I attempt to ‘paint out’ these new developments. Two iconic buildings that feature in the work are, ‘The Toaster’ 1998 and The Sydney Opera House. The Sydney Opera House has been a building of both admiration and contention in the Sydney community over the decades and by choosing to paint myself into the landscape I am creating an ownership over my space and my city. In essence this work is about ownership and one’s attempt to write themselves into their own architectural narrative.
